The Active Dad

Open Letter

In today’s society there is such a stigma when it comes to men being involved in their children’s lives. I can only speak from the perspective in the African American Community because…. we’ll I’m a Black male. I have had conversations with fathers of other races and from speaking to those men at times they felt they don’t get enough credit for all that they contribute. We’re stepping up the plate like never before. We are running the household and taking care of our kids, like some believe only women are capable of doing.

Active Dad is the official safe space for all fathers. After becoming a Dad I realized that there was mostly “Mom” stuff around. All types of mom support groups, events, and let not talk about how stores go all out for Mother’s Day compare to Father Day. Even though men have been labeled as not being easy to open up to others, fatherhood is something that has allowed me to connect with all types of men. Just like everything else in life we need community when it comes to raising our kids as well. Especially those who did not grow up with Father figures in the house. Growing up without having an example of Fatherhood really makes you question if you’re really doing a good job.

Women were given doll babies as little girls that I believe gave them a head start to parenting. As for young boys we were given trucks, sport equipment, and many other things that didn’t give us any tips on Fatherhood. Unless you took care of your action figure like they were babies. If so then you were ahead of many bro.

To the men reading this I just wanted to tell you that you’re doing a damn good job. I often times feel publically we don’t hear that enough. To the man who is questioning how good of a Dad he is, don’t stress yourself out. This dad lifestyle should be taken one day at a time. Keep making positive strides and impacting your kids. To the father who isn’t active in their kid’s life your kids need you more than ever before. Try your hardest to think about what you needed or wanted from your dad when you were young. Then work towards making it right.

In closing I would like to thank everyone who check’s out our site. This is just the beginning of something great. If you’re lacking Dad Community please reach out. Once again….Bro you’re doing a damn good job! The world needs you

Warm Regards
